Experiment

||||
Experiment 2 was similar to experiment 1 except that the set of menus we presented to another group of random computer users were highlighted according to the items that were asked to be retrieved. For example, if the user was asked to find “apple”, the menu “fruit” would be highlighted in bright red. The user was once again timed and more comparisons were made between the user's sex, age and computer experience in order to be incorporated in the final results. The purpose of this experiment is to determine the effects of the highlighted menus on the user’s attention. In this way, we can see how users in this experiment act as "passive" users. This will allow us to compare how users react differently when asked to be "active" users when using digital tools. This will be the focus of our next experiment. |
