Where did South Korean Adoptees go after they were adopted?

Discussion

Since the end of the Korean War, South Korean international adoption has greatly fluctuated throughout the years with a steady decline shown above. My aim for this page was to show where adoptees went after they were adopted, however moving forward I would like to broaden the lens and think about all of the children who have been either internationally or domestically adopted thorughout the world and how that has affected their lives and where they ended up living.

While adoption is a complicated topic, it is clear to see how many lives this has affected. South Korea has sent an estimated 200,000 children overseas in the past 70 years. The decline of South Korean Adoptions over the past few years can be attributed to different legislation that has been passed making the adoption process more timely and difficult, and the pandemic.

In conclusion, I wanted to give a little historical context in hopes of providing a deeper understanding of why adoption was so popular in South Korea and where these adoptees all went after they were adopted.
